In this review, we will look at two different factors to do with the speed of the HostGator hosting service. Firstly, we will take a look at customer service speed, as this is an extremely important factor when getting a new website online for the first time.

Because of the discounted prices that Hostgator offers, many first-time webmasters turn to this company to get things going. Therefore, the level of service needs to be exemplary, and order to help these people to succeed in their online endeavors.

Customer Service Speed (9/10).

Unlike many other Internet-based web hosting companies, HostGator actually has a live help service built into its own website. This means that you can speak to a customer service representative at any time, without even having to pick up the phone. We liked this feature, and therefore continue to highly recommend this web host to anyone who values customer service.

However, for some issues, live customer service is simply not enough. We also wanted to test out the customer service e-mail system, to see what the response times were like.

After sending our support ticket e-mail away, it took approximately 28 hours for it to be resolved. Given that HostGator hosts over 1,800,000 domain names – we thought this was a pretty good effort.

Server Speed (8/10).

Again, because of the fact that HostGator services 1,800,000 domain names, we were expecting this service to be a little bit slower than others in the industry. In actual fact, we were wrong. As we were promptly told by the HostGator management team before doing this review – the number of domains being serviced has nothing to do with service speed.

According to the company, a new service is purchased when needed to ensure that the company keeps up with the demand for its services.

For this reason, and as a result of our independent testing, we have scored HostGator’s server speed at 8 /10 – which is one of the highest scores we have given in the industry.
